Operation Health Hair

Lately I have been obsessed with celebrity tresses such as those of Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Anniston, and thus been obsessed with the health of my own hair. Aveda has recently come out with some amazing products to help repair, moisturize, condition and add shine to your hair, so I wanted to share some tips and products for making your hair healthy and purely fabulous! 1. Trim split ends

¨      Especially for those of you wanting to grow your hair out like me,  split ends don’t just magically go away. In fact, they get worse, growing up the strands of your hair like ugly vines ultimately leaving you with even more damaged, ugly, dull hair. Get a trim every 6-8 weeks to help your hair grow and keep it healthy.

2. It’s all in the product

¨      If you already have dry/damaged hair try using quality products such as Aveda Dry Remedy or Damage Remedy shampoos, conditioners and treatment masques specifically made to conquer those issues.

3. Rinse, lather, repeat…but not too often

¨      Try washing your hair only every other day instead of every day. When you wash your hair too often, it strips all the wonderful natural oils from your hair and leaves it unprotected from sun, wind, styling tools etc…I have hair that is more on the dry, frizzy side and have found that when I wash it only 3-4 times per week, split ends don’t creep up as quickly and it just feels so much better.

4. Protect and shine as you style

¨      I tend to use every heated tool known to man when styling my hair…hair dryer, flat iron, curling iron, diffuser, you name it, so i’ve learned that the right styling products are mega important to the health of your hair. You want to make sure that when you are looking for styling products they are going to protect your hair from the stress you put it under and maybe even add some shine. Try Aveda Smooth Infusion Glossing Straightener, Smooth Infusion Style Prep Smoother, Damage Remedy Daily Hair Repair, Brilliant Damage Control, or Brilliant Spray on Shine…just to name a few of the many styling products Aveda offers.

5. Treat your hair to a little TLC

¨      I think the thing I am most tickled pink with right now when it comes to my hair is Aveda Botanical Hair and Scalp Therapy. These are $25 treatments that can be added on to any hair service. There is a Moisture Immersion Treatment that makes your hair 71% softer and smoother, and a Strength Infusion Treatment that adds 71% more resistance to breakage. Get a conditioning treatment every time you have a hair service and I promise you will be awed by how healthy your hair looks and feels…I know I was!
